Brill Community Market Stallholders’ Guide

General

BCM is a small, informal, local, seasonal, market. It’s purpose is to (a) enable local stall-holders to sell or promote their wares or business, and (b) offer local people an opportunity to shop and socialise in a friendly, low-key atmosphere.

The market runs from 9.30am to 12 noon on the third Saturday of April, May, June, July and September.

The market is organised by volunteers on behalf of Brill Parish Council (BPC). Whilst every reasonable effort is taken to promote and run the market efficiently, the organisers make no promises in terms of footfall or sales. Please help us help you by posting the event - and your involvement - on your social media accounts.

The organisers are at liberty to refuse to accommodate a stall that may be at odds with the ethos of the market or cause offence or distress in any way. No reason for this decision need be given.

Note that there is no formal relationship between Brill Community Market and the Brill Christmas Market which is organised by Brill Sports & Social Club).

Costs & Insurance

At present, there is no fee for having a stall at the market; this is to encourage small businesses, hobby stalls, charities, and community groups to attend. The market is supported financially by Brill Parish Council as a community service.

Although BPC’s public liability insurance covers users of The Green, stall holders are expected to have their own public / produce liability cover. The only exceptions to this are very small, non-profit stalls (for example, children selling home-made cakes or cards for charity). If you think this applies to you, please discuss with the organisers; BPC’s insurance MAY cover you - but do not assume this! Please ask.

Practicalities

The market is held in the open air with no natural shelter. We will cancel the market if strong winds are forecast. This is for safety reasons.

Please supply your own table, gazebo (if required), chairs and other furnishings and equipment. There is no electrical supply and no wifi (although 4G cover is good).

Stallholders may set up from 8am. Please locate stalls around the sides of the large triangle of land in front of All Saints Church. Please don’t pitch beside the small road crossing The Green unless you have very heavy equipment to move and cannot get help to do so. This is to minimise the risk to stall holders and shoppers from passing traffic.

Please do not drive on the grass - and please remove ALL cars to the car park behind the Memorial Hall when you have set up. This is to ensure a pleasant environment and outlook for everyone.

Stallholders are responsible for collecting and removing any rubbish associated with their stall.
